The rumors are no longer rumors, as now there are reports that the Cleveland Browns are trading DE Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams. The Browns-Rams rumor picked up steam Sunday night and into Monday morning with news breaking early Monday afternoon.

While the Philadelphia Eagles were often connected to a Garrett deal, Cleveland seemed to value acquiring a high-quality player on top of draft picks if they were going to trade the reigning Defensive Player of the Year. In the trade with the Rams, GM Andrew Berry was able to acquire one of the best defensive ends still on a rookie contract, as well as draft compensation that could help them finally find their quarterback of the future.

A number of national reporters, including Adam Schefter below, shared the trade being finalized at the same time, and with shared credit:

Bombshell: The Browns are finalizing a trade that will send two-time Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, per @rapsheet, @TomPelissero and me.

The deal will not be official until Tuesday at the earliest, with Cleveland at least getting DE Jared Verse and a 2027 first-round pick. The Browns reportedly also added Day 2 picks in the 2028 and 2029 NFL drafts as well.

Verse is a Dayton, Ohio native and now returns to his home state. In two seasons in Los Angeles after being the 19th overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, Verse has made both Pro Bowls and was the AP Rookie of the Year. Verse has 12 sacks, 45 QB hits, 22 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and 124 tackles in his two seasons.

The former Florida State star has a 22 Approximate Value score, per Pro Football Reference, which is just one behind Garrett's AV score for his first three seasons and four points ahead of Garrett's first two years in the NFL.

When Garrett and the Browns adjusted his contract earlier this offseason, it seemed like a trade was the likely outcome, despite denials from GM Andrew Berry. Berry spoke shortly after the news broke:

A quick update on the compensation coming back to the Browns:

Now agreed to and official: The #Browns are trading Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to the #Rams for star edge Jared Verse, a 2027 1st-round, a 2028 2nd round, and a 2029 3rd, per me, @AdamSchefter and @TomPelissero.
