The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted five players for tryouts on the first day of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, PennLive's Nick Farabaugh reported, including former first-round linebacker Jamin Davis.

The Steelers are hosting five veteran players for tryouts, including former Packers TE Robert Tonyan and Commanders LB Jamin Davis.

The Steelers also worked out former Packers tight end Robert Tonyan, wide receiver Travyon Rudolph, linebacker Amari Burney, and punter James Platte.

Davis was drafted 19th overall by the Washington Commanders in 2021 out of Kentucky. His best year came in 2022, when he logged 104 total tackles and three sacks. Released by Washington in 2024, Davis has since bounced around the league, including stints with the Packers' practice squad in 2o24 and two games with the Raiders and now-Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham in 2025.

Tonyan is entering his ninth NFL season. He spent the first five years of his career with the Packers, including a 586-yard, 11-touchdown season in 2020 while catching passes from Aaron Rodgers. The 6'5, 240-pound tight end played in all 17 games for the Kansas City Chiefs last year, but only recorded one receiving yard.

As for the rest of the Steelers' tryout group, Rudolph was a second-team All-MAC selection at both wide receiver and kickoff returner in 2025 for Toledo. The 5'10, 187-pound receiver originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2026.

Like Davis, Burney is also a linebacker with a Patrick Graham connection, playing in 24 games from 2023-24 for the Raiders. The former sixth-round pick recorded 32 total tackles over that span, along with 460 special teams snaps.

Platte was the FCS Punter of the Year for The Citadel in 2025, averaging 46.5 yards per kick.

None of the five players immediately signed following their tryout.
