Warrant issued for WR Brandon Aiyuk related to video filmed near 49ers stadium
A warrant has been issued in Northern California for the arrest of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, according to a report from the California Post.
A court document obtained by USA TODAY Sports shows that Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office filed a formal misdemeanor complaint against Aiyuk, 28, in February for the crime of exhibition of speed. A spokesperson from the district attorney's office declined to confirm whether a warrant had been issued.
According to the complaint, Aiyuk committed the crime of exhibition of speed "on or about December 20, 2025." That correlates with the day Aiyuk posted a video to YouTube showing himself driving more than 100 mph on a freeway near Levi's Stadium, home of the 49ers. The wide receiver also showed himself driving more than 90 mph through intersections next to the stadium, where the speed limit is 25 mph, according to San Jose city data.

The complaint obtained by USA TODAY Sports says Aiyuk "did engage in, and aid and abet in, a motor vehicle exhibition of speed on a highway." It then goes on to say official reports and documents of a law enforcement agency - which the district attorney's office declined to include after request - establish probable cause for Aiyuk's arrest.
The wide receiver apologized for the video of his speeding in a text post on his YouTube channel, though the original video remains public.
USA TODAY Sports reached out to Aiyuk's representation and the 49ers for comment. Neither immediately responded to the request.
Aiyuk was a first-round pick by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his first four seasons playing for San Francisco, he recorded 269 catches for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns. Before the start of the 2024 season, his fifth year in the pros, the 49ers inked Aiyuk to a four-year, $120 million contract extension.

In October of that 2024 season, Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL during a Week 7 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He missed the rest of the season and began 2025 on the PUP list.
Last November, the team voided all guarantees in Aiyuk's contract for failing to communicate with the team during his rehab process. One month later, the 49ers placed Aiyuk on their reserve/left squad list. The wideout posted the video of him speeding past Levi's Stadium one week after that transaction.
On Jan. 21, 49ers general manager John Lynch said, "I think it's safe to say [Aiyuk]'s played his last snap with the 49ers."
