Watch: Visitor from Chicago has a stinking great time biking around Seattle

Jonny Nelson from Chicago biked around Seattle recently, and good grief it seems like he had a stinking great time.

It's always interesting to see your own city through the eyes of someone who doesn't know much about the city. Despite encountering the Burke-Gilman Trail Missing Link very early in his adventure, he still had a great time biking from Golden Gardens to downtown and back (with stops in Gas Works Park and Discovery Park). I especially enjoyed when he was lightly complaining about climbing the gradual hill on Gilman Ave up to Discovery Park before descending down to the lighthouse. Anyone who has climbed back up the hill from the lighthouse knows what's coming. I feel like this climb is one of those quintessential Seattle bicycling introductions.

To answer Jonny's question about Pike Place Market, yes! Locals absolutely shop there in addition to all the tourists. You eventually learn to avoid the worst of the cruise ship crowds there. Every once in a while I hear someone who lives in Seattle talk about the market like it's Times Square or something, and I just don't get that at all. The market is the best.
