In July 1184 the 18-year-old German king Henry VI came to Erfurt to settle a land dispute between the Landgrave of Thuringia and the Archbishop of Mainz. Nobles, bishops and leading citizens of the town packed into an upstairs room of a two-story building near the cathedral. - Read the rest
