Three lighthouse keepers vanished and left the clock unwound

A passing steamer noted in its log on December 15, 1900, that the light on Eilean Mor, in the Outer Hebrides, was dark. Storms kept the relief boat away until December 26. Joseph Moore went ashore alone and found the gate and the door shut, the beds unmade, the clock stopped, the lamps cleaned and refilled, and one set of oilskins still hanging inside. - Read the rest
