The New York Giants are holding their final practice at Greenbrier this morning, Saturday, August 8th. This practice will be closed to the public, though members of the media are still in attendance. Their final two-hour practice of the week will begin practice at 11 a.m., and promises to be another tough one with the teams' second day off since the start of camp looming.

The Giants are likely back in pads again as the team is expected to work on goal line situations.

Updates

Practice ended with the young backups in a live contact goal line drill. After stops on the first two plays, RB Damon Bankston scored on three straight dives between C Bryan Hudson and RG Evan Neal. Most juice of any drill of camp with all the starters celebrating their wins...

Greg Newsome went from maybe a prove-it deal bargain to an indispensable starter over 2 weeks.

Sounds like an exhale https://t.co/EYvrNJxG1S

Malik Nabers practiced again today, closing out Giants camp in West Virginia looking strong and ready to take next step into team drills next week.

Would think 7/7 initially.

Darius Slayton had a strong WR/CB 1-on-1 period Saturday, winning all three of his matchups at Giants camp.
On one catch, Jaxson Dart made a heck of a throw in tight coverage, right on his chest and between 1 and 8 for the score.

Jaxson Dart had another great throw to Isaiah Likely in the back of the end zone, high enough to just get over Tremaine Edmunds lurking near the goal line in 7 on 7

Alert: Tae Banks interception.

Tae Banks had a GREAT red zone interception - finding the ball at the top of the route- during WR/CB 1-on-1s. Isaiah Hodgins smoked Banks off line, but Banks recovered and made the pick in the end zone.

Maybe a little lucky, too, but really good play to spite his Achilles heel.

Tyler Nubin got more first-team reps, but Jason Pinnock rotated in again.

Deonte Banks again got a lot of reps with the first-team defense. Colton Hood mixed in and Paulson Adebo got first-team reps later in practice after Greg Newsome left.

Didn't spot C John Michael Schmitz or DL Anquin Barnes at practice. Both left early yesterday. Schmitz likely in the concussion protocol.

Bryan Hudson got all the first-team center reps and Jake Kubas was the No. 2 center with Lucas Patrick not participating in team periods....

Injury scare as CB Greg Newsome II has an apparent non-contact injury. He appears fine after an exam.

Looks like the Giants dodged their first major injury scare of camp. Greg Newsome, who has been their most consistent corner, went down with an apparent non-contact knee injury. He hobbled off and was checked by trainers with GM Joe Schoen joining in.

But Newsome apparently...

Final day of practice in West Virginia. John Harbaugh said he's going to run goal line on the 10th practice in 11 days. Team is in full pads. No slacking around here. pic.twitter.com/YJgE0dtDrS

Things to watch for on Saturday

  • Will the offense be able to sustain its momentum from Friday? The defense responded with dominance after the offense won the first day of camp.
  • Who will play center with starter John Michael Schmitz and backup Lucas Patrick dealing with injuries?
  • Is there a shakeup on the cornerback depth chart? Paulson Adebo seems to be sliding down to the second team while Deonte Banks gets more first team reps.
  • Can Odell Beckham Jr. and Dalen Cambre keep their pushes for roster spots going?
  • John Harbaugh has said the team will work on goal line situations. Can they find running room against a defense that was having none of it on Friday?
  • Will either Dominic Zvada or Ben Sauls gain an edge in the kicking competition?

The team will travel back to their own facilities tomorrow before getting back to work in advance of facing the Minnesota Vikings in their first preseason game next weekend. The Giants will host the Vikings at MetLife Stadum on Saturday, August 15th, at 1 p.m.
