Story ImageThe trumpets will not be blaring at Dodger Stadium for the foreseeable future. The Los Angeles Dodgers are placing closer Edwin Diaz back on the injured list with an undisclosed injury less than a month after his activation from the 60-day injured list, according to The Athletic. The Dodgers are expected to call up right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan from Triple-A to serve as relief length in the corresponding roster move. Diaz has struggled significantly since returning in late July from elbow surgery, allowing 11 earned runs on 16 hits since his return. Diaz currently has an ERA of 11.85. His recent performances have presented further issues, marked by three blown saves in five opportunities since August 7, along with nine earned runs allowed over five innings. Manager Dave Roberts attempted to provide low-leverage opportunities for Diaz to adjust his mechanics, including the ninth inning of Monday's 11-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies. Diaz surrendered three runs before securing the final out. The roster move occurs while Los Angeles contends with a difficult stretch, posting a 6-10 record in August after dropping a key four-game series to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers face the Rockies again tonight in Colorado for the second of a three-game set with an 8.0 game lead in the NL West.
