Calvin Austin injury: Giants’ WR done for season with torn ACL

New York Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin III tore his ACL, per a report from Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Austin tore his ACL in a non-contact injury suffered in practice on Tuesday.

The injury is a definite blow to the Giants offense, speedy slot receiver had been having a great camp. Austin quickly developed a rapport with QB Jaxson Dart and emerged as one of Dart's favorite targets in practice. He was also emerging as one of the Giants' most explosive options, with his 4.3 speed and agility giving opposing defenders fits.

Austin was signed away from the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year, $1.5 million contract and looked like he might far out-play his deal.

Now his season is over before it even begins and the Giants will have to figure out a new plan for the slot receiver, and find another source of explosiveness for their offense.
