Mets select Chris Devenski from Triple-A, transfer Jorge Polanco to 60-day IL
The Mets have made a roster move for a fresh arm ahead of Friday's series opener against the Astros.
RHP Chris Devenski has been selected from Triple-A Syracuse.
Devenski pitched well for the club in a 13-game stint last season, pitching to a 2.13 ERA while striking out 14 batters.
The veteran elected free agency this winter, and landed with the Pirates on a minor league deal.
He was forced to the sidelines with an undisclosed injury during spring training, and was removed from the 40-man roster and DFA'd upon his activation in early August.
Devenski returned to the Mets on another minor league pact earlier this month, and he allowed just one run across five appearances before receiving the call.
In a corresponding roster move, RHP Xzavion Curry has been optioned to Syracuse and Jorge Polanco has been transferred to the 60-day IL.
Polanco, of course, has already been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
