Basso arrived in Denver as an undrafted free agent after the 2026 NFL Draft as a long snapper from Oregon and competed against veteran Mitchell Fraboni. He could be the long-term replacement with Fraboni getting older, but a rough preseason game will be hard to shake for the rookie.
With Fraboni heading into the second year of a three-year contract and with him turning 30 this season, the team may be looking ahead to the future with the addition of Basso. If so, he could end up on their practice squad for this season and likely be ready to take over full-time long snapper duties as early as the 2027 season depending on what the team does with Fraboni.
Many may remember that botched field goal snap in the preseason and that likely spelled doom for the young long snapper. We'll have to wait and see if he gets another opportunity on the practice squad or elsewhere.
