by Mark Frauenfelder from Boing Boing on (#782EV)

MIT's building that houses its Department of Chemistry was shut down on August 27 after a grad student "self-reported to a local emergency room and claimed to have synthesized dimethyl mercury," according to MIT Emergency Management.
Overnight, hazardous waste management firm Triumvirate Environmental wiped down surfaces and safely disposed of items that were potentially contaminated.
