[UPDATE 11:27 AM] - The Titans will likely have their IPP guy:
The #Titans will be adding DT Laki Tasi to their practice squad, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
Tasi will have International (IPP) status. Tasi, who was born in Samoa, grew up playing rugby in Australia.
Big, developmental dude.
[UPDATE 8/31 10:40 AM] - Per usual, Melo is killing it with the reporting on practice squad guys:
The #Titans released RB Michael Carter, per sources.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 30, 2026
Carter produced 71 yards during the preseason. Strong likelihood he ends on the practice squad, if available.
The #Titans intend to add DB Derrick Canteen to their practice squad if he clears waivers today, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
Canteen had an INT for the Titans during the preseason. He also previously spent time with HC Robert Saleh in SF.
The #Titans intend to add WR Tyren Montgomery to their practice squad if he clears waivers today, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
Rookie UDFA played at the D-III level and captured headlines during the predraft process after impressing at the @seniorbowl. Developmental WR for the PSQ.
The #Titans intend to add TE Joel Wilson to their practice squad if he clears waivers today, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
Wilson was firmly in the mix for the TE4 role on the active 53-man roster.
The #Titans could add DB Bishop Fitzgerald to the practice squad if he clears waivers today, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
The rookie UDFA out of USC was waived during roster cuts on Sunday. Fluid situation.
The #Titans intend to sign CB Jalen McMurray to their practice squad if he clears waivers today, per source.
- Justin M (@JustinM_NFL) August 31, 2026
Rookie UDFA from The University of Tennessee was waived during roster cuts on Sunday.
[UPDATE 2:43 PM] - Melo says WR Hank Beatty is a strong candidate for the practice squad.
NFL teams had until 5:00 PM Central Time today to trim their rosters down to 53 players. All players who were released today and have accrued less than 4 years of service will be on waivers until 12:00 PM Central. After that, any player who went unclaimed will be a free agent. Those players are free to sign with another team to the active roster or the practice squad.
Practice squads can consist of up to 17 players (16 standard players + one IPP player). Up to 10 of those players can be guys who are rookies or second-year players. During the season, teams can elevate two practice squad players to the active roster. They can also protect 4 players from being signed by another team. Any other player on the practice squad can be signed by another NFL team at any point if that team adds them to their active roster.
Of course, the most interesting name we will be watching is Will Levis. At this point, I don't know if the Tennessee Titans even want to bring Levis back on the practice squad. He was pretty bad in the preseason, and it might be better for everyone if he gets a fresh start elsewhere.
We will be keeping track of all of the Titans' practice squad additions here. If you see a name reported on Twitter, feel free to drop it in the comments.
The Titans are a 2.5-point favorite in Week 1 against the New York Jets at FanDuel Sportsbook. If lines for all 17 games were available right now, it would probably be the only game they are favored in. Do you feel confident putting your hard-earned money on the Titans?
