The injury will likely require surgery," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Gwyn, 27, won the Ravens' starting center job out of training camp after early favorite Danny Pinter went down in August with a season-ending knee injury. He excelled as a run-blocker in his first three starts, but he has struggled in pass protection. Among starting centers, his 19.1 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus ranks dead-last by a wide margin. His six pressures allowed, three penalties, and 96.2 pass-blocking efficiency are all bottom-four marks, too.
This is a disappointing outcome for Gwyn, who got his first shot at a starting job after three years in a depth role in Atlanta. He came to Baltimore with former Falcons offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford this offseason and was seen as a dark horse in the competition for the center gig. He impressed in the preseason, creating some excitement that Ledford had developed him into a starting-caliber player, but the early results were disappointing, to say the least. The starting job may not be waiting for Gwyn if he returns later this season.
Gwyn will likely be placed on injured reserve this week. Pocic is also out long-term" with a knee injury, moving right guard Vega Ioane into the starting center job for the time being. Andrew Vorhees took his place on Sunday and will likely do so moving forward.
The Ravens did sign veteran center Andre James to their practice squad on Wednesday. Once he gets integrated into Baltimore's offense, he could be a potential starter who would move Ioane back to his natural position.
