Lions vs. Panthers: Best odds, bets, and parlays
DETROIT, MICHIGAN - SEPTEMBER 27: Jahmyr Gibbs #0 of the Detroit Lions catches the ball against the New York Jets during the second quarter at Ford Field on September 27, 2026 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesAfter another wild Week 3 victory, the Detroit Lions go back under the lights on the road. They take on the defending NFC South champion, the Carolina Panthers. Carolina is entering the game banged up all over, and with the weather looking like it will have some rain involved, that affects what I am looking at this week. The forecast calls for some rain early in the morning, with thunderstorms on and off from noon until 6 p.m and during the game it's a decent shot at some more precipitation.
Last week was a great week for my bets, going 3-0 on the straight bets and hitting a parlay if you combined them all into one. The bold bets were hit-or-miss: quarterback Jared Goff did his part, while the other two didn't.
Let's keep the hot streak going, as I have three wagers to watch on Sunday evening. The odds are with FanDuel Sportsbook.
1. Sione Vaki 15+ rushing yards (+120)Last week against a stout New York Jets defense, backup Lions running back Sione Vaki had a career game, getting six carries for 26 yards. Those stats aren't impressive, but with this game likely relying on the ground game, I think Vaki will get similar chances as last week. What also helps is facing this poor Panthers run defense.
Carolina has allowed the most rushing yards in the NFL (580), the most yards per carry (5.7), and is tied with the Green Bay Packers for most rushing touchdowns with six. This Panthers defense is struggling to stop the run, so pair that with a rain game where both teams will lean on the run, and chances are the Panthers defense won't stop Detroit. I think Vaki can hit this because if Detroit runs the ball heavily, Gibbs will need a breather, and Vaki can take those reps.
Bet potential winnings: $10 -> $22
2. Jahmyr Gibbs over 134.5 rushing/receiving yards(-114)Similar concept for this pick here as the one above. Detroit will lean on the running game, and Gibbs will get most of the workload against this Panthers defense. The Panthers are struggling to stop the run, and the whole team is dealing with injuries. While Panthers safety Nick Scott and linebacker Devin Lloyd are back after missing last week, Gibbs will test how healthy they really are and will be a mismatch for both through the air.
Just because there will be rain doesn't mean the Lions will abandon the passing game either. The explosive deep shot throws might not be there, but the short throws and screens will shine. Gibbs will put the Panthers' defense on their heels with his quickness after the catch to move the ball downfield.
Bet potential winnings: $10 -> $18.77
3. Over 50.5 points (-118)Before knowing the weather, I was easily hammering the over as both offenses are high-scoring units. I was shocked to see that the line is at 51 points, and I still think this is doable. The Lions have averaged 31 points a game this season; I could easily see that number go higher against this Panthers defense.
Carolina's offense has been impressive too, averaging 29.7 points per game. The Lions' secondary has struggled this season, so the rain might give them a little bit of ease if it holds up. I think Carolina will still find some success against Detroit, so if the Lions put up 31 points, I can see Carolina scoring 20. Both defenses have struggled this season, and the rain could change up both offenses, but I think Detroit scores enough to do the heavy lifting here.
Bet potential winnings: $10 -> $18.47
If you want to turn these three single bets into a same-game parlay, the odds are +511 and $10 -> $51.15
Record: 5-4
Brandon's Bold BetIf you want to go bold and build a big parlay that could pay well, put these three bets together in a parlay:
- Isaac TeSlaa 20+ receiving yards (+102)
- Sione Vaki anytime touchdown (+750)
- Most rushing yards Jahmyr Gibbs (-240)
Since being held without a catch in Week 1, Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa has been more involved in the passing game. He tallied 26 receiving yards in Week 2 and 66 in Week 3, so 20 should be doable, even with the rain. With my belief that Vaki will get more carries this week, I see him getting a goal-line carry and finding the end zone for the first time in his career. Finally, I see Gibbs finish the game with the most rushing yards of any player; he's the best running back on the field on Sunday and is bound to break out some big runs.
I hit one of three of these last week, and this week I leaned into the boldness this week with the Vaki touchdown to amplify the payout. While this seems bold overall, I think this has a chance of hitting, especially if Detroit can have a big lead late in the game.
Odds +2049 and bet $10 -> $214.96

Do-it-all parlayIf you want to combine all six plays into a parlay and go big or go home, here are the odds:
- Sione Vaki 15+ rushing yards
- Jahmyr Gibbs over 134.5 rushing and receiving yards
- Over 50.5 points
- Isaac TeSlaa 20+ receiving yards
- Sione Vaki anytime touchdown
- Most rushing yards Jahmyr Gibbs
Odds +6229 and bet $10 -> $632.95
