The Detroit Lions (2-2) will stay on the road in Week 5, traveling to the desert to take on the Arizona Cardinals (1-3), and the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have set the opening betting line at Lions -4.5 points.

The Cardinals fired head coach Jonathan Gannon and his staff after the conclusion of the 2025 season-creating an opportunity for the Lions to hire offensive coordinator Drew Petzing-and hired former Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur (brother of Packers HC Matt LaFleur). LaFleur retained Nick Rallis as defensive coordinator, brought in veteran playcaller Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator, and went to work overhauling the roster.

The Cardinals kicked their offseason off by releasing QB Kyler Murray and promoting Jacoby Brissett to their starting role, then drafted RB Jeremiyah Love with the third overall pick and signed Tyler Allgeier to bolster their running backs room while James Conner recovers from a 2025 foot injury on injured reserve. Additionally, they also signed WR Kendrick Bourne, LG Isaac Seumalo, and RT Elijah Wilkinson to starting roles. On defense, they re-signed DT Roy Lopez (who spent last season in Detroit) and gave him a starting role, then added LB Jack Gibbens and S Andrew Wingard as additional starters.

As with most new regimes, things have started off bumpy. While the Cardinals pulled off a Week 1 win, it was over the 0-4 Chargers, who have struggled all season. Since then, the Cardinals have given up at least 31 points in all three games, losing 31-7 to the Seahawks, 36-30 to the 49ers, and 36-24 to a Jameis Winston-led Giants this past Sunday. Against New York, it was a back-and-forth game that came down to the wire, as the Cardinals got themselves in position to win the game, but Brissett threw his third interception of the contest, a pick-six that put the game out of reach.

With all the problems the Lions are having on the defensive side of the ball right now, they'll likely need to continue the trend of putting up 31+ points against the Cardinals if they want to win this game. Can they do it? We'll find out this Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
