Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat has been suspended two games for violating the NFL's performance-enhancing substance policy, according to multiple reports.

The 30-year-old will now miss the Bears' Week 6 contest against the Atlanta Falcons and the Week 7 matchup with the New England Patriots on "Thursday Night Football." He will be eligible to return in Week 8 when the Bears visit the Seattle Seahawks on "Monday Night Football" in Week 8.

Sweat is in the penultimate year of a four-year, $98 million extension he signed with Chicago after the team acquired him from the Washington Commanders in 2023.

The Bears traded a second-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to acquire Sweat in the midst of a career year that resulted in a Pro Bowl selection.

He has two sacks in five games for the Bears this year, along with seven total tackles and four quarterback hits.

In 2025, Sweat notched 10 sacks, 53 tackles and 18 quarterback hits in 17 games.
