Vote NO on I-638: No state-mandated bullying and genital exams for girls youth sports!

You absolute monsters, these are children we're talking about.

Washington's statewide Initiative 638, if approved, could require all girls (but not boys) to have their genitals examined before they are are allowed to play youth sports. Children!

All so some twisted MAGA adults can abuse the apparatus of the state to bully trans kids. Children!

This initiative will presumably include girls who want to participate in cycling sports (it's written poorly so the extent of what counts as interscholastic" competition is not clear), all just so they can bully the small number of kids who are trans and exclude them from the sport. This is wrong. All girls are welcome in cycling, and we all need all of us cycling adults in Washington State to unite against I-638 so it cannot exclude and harm young athletes. It is our duty as responsible adults stewarding a just world for all children to protect them from bigotry like what is proposed in I-638.

Youth sports are about learning rules, making friends, learning the value of teamwork, developing strength and agility, developing skills and, most importantly, having fun. Kids are invited to participate and be part of something bigger than themselves, and the best coaches make sure every kid knows that they belong. There are no boys who are signing up for girls races just to get a competitive advantage. That is not a thing. This isn't about fairness in girls sports. These MAGA conservatives do not care at all about girls sports, they just think they have found a wedge issue and are cranking on it as hard as they can for disingenuous purposes and with no concern for the real harm they will cause to all girls but especially trans girls as well as intersex and non-binary kids.

Adults deciding to exclude some children (children!) from participating in sports is mean, and its wrong. There's no gray area here. It doesn't matter if someone doesn't understand transgender issues, adults bullying and excluding kids is always wrong.

All children in Washington State deserve to be treated with dignity and fairness. All children. No exceptions.

Vote NO on I-638 (as well as other initiatives from the same group of ultra-wealthy conservatives: I-001 and I-645). If have the means, please donate to No Hate In Washington State, which is organizing against I-638 and I-001.
