What were the Bears doing? Patriots score improbable TD on final play before halftime

How will you ever know if you don't try?

A question designed to motivate, the New England Patriots just showed why you shouldn't dismiss the chance of something happening - even if the odds aren't in your favor.

Faced with the seemingly impossible task of scoring points outside of field goal range with just three seconds left in the half against the Chicago Bears on "Thursday Night Football," the Patriots needed a miracle. And they got one.

Drake Maye dumped a pass off to Rhamondre Stevenson, who figured he could probably pad his stats before heading to the locker room. The running back galloped towards the end zone without a Bears defender even getting a hand on him, padding his stats with a 48-yard receiving touchdown.

The pictures might be worth more than a thousand words in this case:

Maybe the Bears thought the half was over. If so, they were wrong.

Stevenson played through the whistle and managed to effectively erase the Bears' touchdown just moments before, sending New England into the half with a much more manageable deficit of only six points.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the touchdown more than doubled the Patriots' win probability from 10.2% to 24.5%, while Stevenson only had a 4.3% chance of scoring.

Turns out, the touchdown was far from impossible.

Even if it was improbable.
