Female scientists have taken to Twitter to mock Tim Hunt's suggestion that science would benefit from "single-sex labs" by posting pictures of themselves at work using the #distractinglysexy hashtag.

Speaking at a conference, Hunt said the trouble with "girls" is that they cause men to fall in love with them and cry when criticised.
