High in the Peruvian Andes a team of researchers from the University of Massachusetts have been maintaining a satellite-linked weather station on top of the Quelccaya ice cap since 2003. The goal of the station is to document the impact of a major El Nino weather system now affecting the world, specifically in the Pacific. It is expect to reach its peak by the end of 2015.
