Winnie Blagden received cards and gifts from around world after radio launched appeal to help her celebrate landmark day
A widow with no family who received 16,000 cards from strangers for her 100th birthday after a radio appeal has died.
Winnie Blagden, who had no children and lived alone, received birthday wishes from around the world in May after a Facebook appeal by BBC Radio Sheffield went viral. She died at her home in Sheffield on Sunday night, a spokeswoman for the BBC said.
