Taxi firm launches investigation after Barber tweeted that a 'sharia Uber driver' told her she should not be out late at night

Uber is investigating allegations made by the actor Frances Barber, who claimed one of its drivers made disparaging remarks about her attire and said she should not be out late at night.

The actor, who has starred in BBC dramas including Doctor Who and Silk, had reportedly ordered the taxi to take her home after the London Evening Standard theatre awards at the Old Vic theatre in London.
