Stanford research psychologist Russell Poldrack decided to scan his own brain with a MRI for 18 months to get a better understanding of how different areas of the brain communicate with each other. It's was the most extensive study that's ever been performed on a human brain.

One surprising find was how his brain reacted when craving coffee. He discovered that parts of his brain were actually more connected when he was uncaffeinated.
