The Boston Bruins are down a defenseman.
Adam McQuaid, who took a hard hit into the boards from Washington Capitals forward Zach Sill early in Tuesday's matchup in Boston, was tended to by medical staff and escorted into the locker room.
McQuaid was unable to return to the game.
No penalty was called on the play, but it could draw the attention of the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
