NSW to get digital licences by 2018
By mid 2015 the NSW government will start issuing digital versions of licences it currently issues starting with recreational fishing licences, responsible service of alcohol (RSA) licences, and responsible conduct of gambling (RCG) licences. Physical licences will still be available for those who need a hard copy with an eye to removing the need for printed physical licences in the future. Drivers licences will be the tough nut to crack considering the current range of uses it has, other than for proving that the holder can legally operate a vehicle, so this part of the NSW Digital Licence programme is not expected to start until 2018. Hopefully by this time people's phones will not longer be easily hacked and will be secure enough to hold this information.
