Blue Jackets place Foligno on IR after Malone's headshot
The Columbus Blue Jackets could be without their captain for the foreseeable future.
Nick Foligno has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury after taking a dangerous headshot from Carolina Hurricanes forward Brad Malone on Friday.
Foligno left the game and did not return. He will be sidelined indefinitely.
Malone was not assessed a penalty on the play, and will not receive supplemental discipline from the NHL's Department of Player Safety.
