Drivers stalled by the blizzard along the East Coast got some help from an unlikely source.

New York Islanders backup goaltender Thomas Greiss spent Saturday helping motorists who were stranded in the snowstorm, according to the netminder's agent, Ray Petkau.

Greiss' wife, Brittney, got some photographic evidence of her husband's heroics.

The Islanders' game against the Philadelphia Flyers was postponed Saturday, as were two Washington Capitals contests: Friday against the Anaheim Ducks and Sunday versus the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was spotted gassing up to help his neighbors weather the storm in the D.C. area Friday.
