The Ottawa Senators presented their first detailed look at a proposal for the redevelopment of LeBreton Flats on Tuesday.

The project, titled "Illumination LeBreton," would feature heritage waterfront attractions, parks, plazas, and residential and commercial amenities, as well as major event centers anchored by a brand-new 18,000-seat arena for the Senators.

The proposal, backed by Senators owner Eugene Melnyk, aims to return the LeBreton Flats site to its heyday as an urban hub while allowing the team to move out of the Canadian Tire Centre, which is located approximately 17 miles from the city center.

Melnyk said he has "no" interest in selling the team and won't move into a rink he doesn't own. #Sens

LeBreton Flats, which is less than a mile away from the city center, would be easily accessible via public transit.
