After being shut out by the Finns in the preliminary round, it was Canada who opened the scoring in their gold-medal rematch with Connor McDavid scoring his first of the tournament.

The 19-year-old flew end-to-end and drove to the net after feeding Matt Duchene as they entered Finland's zone. McDavid then picked up his linemate's deflected shot, and roofed it home past Mikko Koskinen to give his team the early lead.

McDavid now has nine points at the World Championship.
