Marsbot is a new app by Foursquare that texts restaurant and bar recommendations to users. The app uses Foursquare data and preferences it learns over time to proactively send users recommendations when they are near something they might enjoy. The service is being tested in New York and San Francisco for the iPhone with a wider release planned for the future.
Like my bestie, Marsbot learns that I'm into pistachio gelato and I spend most of my time in The Mission. Like my bestie, Marsbot texts me when it discovers a new chai spot opening around the corner from my office. And like my bestie, Marsbot isn't perfect, but is always full of good intentions.
