The Comma Queen Explains How to Fix a Dangling Participle Within a Sentence

In a new episode of her humorously informative grammar series, the very knowledgable Mary Norris aka "The Comma Queen" explains the concept of a participle and how to easily fix one when it's dangling.

Now we're going to tackle the dangling participle. The participle is the form of the verb that has 'ing' on the end of it and when you begin a sentence with a participle that phrase has to modify the subject of the sentence. For instance 'looking up, I noticed I was late'. That's an example of a well formed sentence using a participle looking up that modifies the subject of sentence.
