The PBS Digital Studios channel Shanks FX recently showed us how to recreate the iconic teleporter effect seen in Star Trek: The Original Series using household items. They used glitter, Alka-Seltzer tablets, various reflective objects, and more.
The Star Trek teleport / energize effect has been featured in every iteration of the franchise, dating back to the 1964 TV pilot.
The special effect was originally created by Darrell Arthur Anderson.
