Another hip injury has put Mike Pouncey's status for the regular-season opener in question.

The Miami Dolphins center will miss the remainder of the preseason as a result of the ailment, and it's possible that he could be forced to sit out Week 1, head coach Adam Gase announced Sunday.

Pouncey underwent surgery to repair a right hip issue following the 2015 season. The latest injury, sustained in Friday's preseason loss to the Dallas Cowboys, is to his left hip.

Losing the captain of the offensive line would be a crushing blow for a Dolphins offense that takes on an ever-dominant Seattle Seahawks defense to kick off the season.

It's unclear whether he's at risk of missing any time beyond Week 1, but Gase only mentioning the opener can likely be taken as an indication that his absence shouldn't extend long into the season.

Pouncey, a first-round pick in the 2011 draft, enters his sixth season with 72 career starts and is coming off a third consecutive Pro Bowl appearance.
