The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Nikita Nesterov to a one-year, $725,000 contract.

The 23-year-old restricted free agent was coming off his entry-level deal after posting the best numbers of his young career last season.

Nesterov set career highs for games (57), goals (3), assists (6) and points (9) and played in 9 postseason games in 2015-16. #Bolts

Nesterov, who appeared in one game for Russia at the World Cup of Hockey, was drafted in the fifth round (148th overall) at the 2011 NHL Draft.

The Lightning will now continue to work out a new deal with Nikita Kucherov, who's also a restricted free agent.
