LG’s OLED TV Share Your Night Sky Story Contest

Light pollution is just a part of our everyday - or every night- lives in 2016. While we've become completely used to it, numerous organizations and activists have launched efforts to decrease the negative impact of light pollution.
Inspired especially by the efforts of the Icelandic Lights Out Stars On Lights Out Stars On campaign started in 2006, which asks Reykjavik residents to turn off all the city lights in the capital area for half an hour on September 28th so they can witness the full beauty of the aurora borealis and night sky, global electronics company LG has implemented its advanced OLED technology to further raise awareness.
On July 20th, 2016, LG presented the spectacular Lights Out Stars On Concert. Creative director Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy - a YouTube star with five million subscribers - gave a short introduction before famous Icelandic musicians isgeir, GusGus and ilafur Arnalds performed ambient music in front of a display which featured 40 OLED screens and a combined 330,000,000 self-emitting OLED pixels projecting footage of the aurora borealis. LG's OLED TVs require no backlight, enabling them to emit the perfect shade of black, like that of a night sky with no light pollution.
To continue to promote awareness of the effects of light pollution, LG is is holding a Facebook contest until November 17, 2016.
