Some of the brightest stars in the winter sky will be hidden by the Moon this week, and the radiance of the full moon will dim the lustre of the Geminids meteor shower

The Moon stands low in the E at nightfall on 12 December, to the right of Aldebaran in Taurus and below the Pleiades.
