Plan by Cornish Lithium to explore metal deposits in saline waters raises hopes of mining revival in English county

It is known across the world for its proud tin mining tradition but plans have been announced to extract a different metal from beneath Cornwall's craggy landscape - lithium.

The presence of lithium in underground hot springs in Cornwall has been long known but until now was regarded as a curiosity as there was no developed market.
