Steelers officially sign Joe Haden to 3-year contract
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed cornerback Joe Haden to a three-year contract on Wednesday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Steelers, but the contract is reportedly worth $27 million according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Haden was released by the Cleveland Browns after spending the first seven seasons of his career with the organization.
The 28-year-old recorded 48 tackles and three interceptions in 13 games with the Browns during the 2016 season.
Haden was named to the Pro Bowl in 2013 and 2014 and was signed to a five-year, $68-million extension by the Browns in May 2014.
Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown was impressed with the signing.
"A fierce competitor," Brown said of Haden via the Steelers' official website. "A tough opponent. And someone you have to be ready for and prepared for. He is strong, he is fast."
The veteran cornerback battled through injuries over the past two seasons and saw his game decline, but the Steelers likely made an astute move in taking a calculated risk on a player who, at his best, is among the NFL's top cornerbacks.
