The Houston Texans will sign star DeAndre Hopkins to a five-year contract extension that includes the largest amount of guaranteed money for an NFL receiver, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The contract is worth $81 million over the five years with $49 million guaranteed, according to Schefter. The previous record for most guaranteed money for a receiver was Julio Jones' $35.5 million.

Hopkins' $16.2-million annual average value ranks second in the league among receivers, only trailing Antonio Brown's $17 million.

The 25-year-old had briefly held out from training camp in the hope of getting a new contract last summer.

Hopkins' contract was set to expire following the 2017 campaign. He has been the Texans' leading receiver in each of the past three seasons, racking up a career-high 1,521 yards in 2015 which earned him Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro honors.
