The Denver Broncos will bring back quarterback Brock Osweiler after he was released by the Cleveland Browns, pending a physical on Monday, general manager John Elway announced Saturday.

As the Browns owe Osweiler $15.225 million from his previous contract, the Broncos will pay the quarterback just $775,000 for a one-year deal, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Osweiler will back up starter Trevor Siemian while Paxton Lynch is out with a shoulder sprain. Elway has confidence that the Broncos can get Osweiler back to playing at the level he did when helping the team to a Super Bowl championship in 2015.

"Without Brock that year, we don't win the Super Bowl. " But I'm sure it's been a long 18 months for him," said Elway of Osweiler, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post. "He's going to need a little football rehab. We know that. We'll show him that and give him a little love."

Osweiler was drafted by the Broncos in the second round in 2012 and spent four seasons with the team as Peyton Manning's backup before signing a four-year, $72-million contract with the Houston Texans in 2016. However, he only lasted one year there.
