Jaguars-Texans Week 1 game staying in Houston
Despite the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey, the Houston Texans will still host the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium during Week 1 on Sept. 10, head coach Bill O'Brien told reporters on Monday.
"Sunday's game, I can confirm to you, will be played here in Houston against the Jacksonville Jaguars," O'Brien said during an opening statement to media. "(Texans President) Jamey Rootes spoke with (Houston) Mayor (Sylvester) Turner and (Harris County) Judge (Ed) Emmett - obviously (owner) Bob McNair is involved with that - and everyone agrees that our game will not take resources away from other parts of the city and that this game will be an opportunity to continue to bring us all together as Houstonians and as Texans."

O'Brien had said last week that the team was aiming to keep the game in Houston as long as the stadium was "ready to go". The head coach also took time on Tuesday to thank the media for keeping the team informed about the hurricane while it was away from Houston.
