Look: Rivers spent over $200K on SUV with film room for L.A. commute

The Chargers may have moved to Los Angeles, but Philip Rivers has opted to stay put in San Diego and commute up the west coast three days a week during the season.

And he'll be doing it in style, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Rivers spent "upwards of $200,000" (not including hiring a driver) on an SUV with an incredible film room in order to study tape during his commute.

The veteran pivot called it the "best QB room I've ever been in."

"There may be some days where we're hoping to get in a little traffic because we have more work to do," Rivers said.

Rivers - who has eight children - said the SUV helps him better balance his family and football commitments.

"My two biggest things were my family time and my preparation and what I owe this football team," Rivers said. "I was not going to sacrifice either of them in any big proportion. I can look at all the pluses and minuses and say, 'OK. This does it.' This allows me to get home in the six- to seven-hour (period), which is when I got home the last 11 years, and it allows me to watch all or more of the film I watched before."
