Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll made arguably the strongest statement yet from an NFL coach regarding President Donald Trump's incendiary remarks about players who protest during the national anthem.

Hours before his Seahawks were to take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, Carroll released a statement on Twitter, defending NFL players and calling for "equality for all people":

Carroll's team features defensive end Michael Bennett, who has sat during the national anthem since the preseason and raised his right fist after sacks. Bennett also revealed he was involved in an incident with Las Vegas police this summer when they threatened to blow his "head off."

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has also been critical of Trump's recent statements.

Also of note, the Seahawks all stood and locked arms during the national anthem last season when anthem protests were growing in volume.
