After the U.S. vice president left the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers game due to 23 players kneeling during the anthem, Donald Trump confirmed the exit was planned.
I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen.

Pence also released a prepared statement after leaving the game, only a couple hours after tweeting he was excited to witness Peyton Manning's jersey retirement.
