Elliott to play vs. Chiefs after 2nd Circuit grants stay of 6-game ban

Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott will be eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs after the Second Circuit granted him an administrative stay of his six-game suspension Friday.

Friday's decision only guarantees Elliott will play in Week 9 and is not a ruling in his favor in the suspension case, which stemmed from domestic violence allegations.

Elliott had his six-game suspension reinstated on Monday and filed an appeal the following day.

The Second Circuit ruled that Elliott and the NFLPA's motion for an injunction - which would make him eligible to play until a decision on his appeal is made - has been referred to the next available three-judge panel.

Elliott was suspended in August after a yearlong investigation into domestic violence allegations leveled by his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson. He has denied any wrongdoing and wasn't charged.
