Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and Houston Texans owner Bob McNair are among the team owners and league officials that will be deposed as part of Colin Kaepernick's collusion case against the NFL, a league source confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jones, Kraft, McNair, and any other deponents will have to make available any cell phone records and emails relating to the quarterback.

Kaepernick filed a grievance against the NFL's team owners in mid-October. His case stems from the fact that he remains a free agent but has watched multiple other, arguably inferior quarterback options get signed.

Kaepernick began protesting racial injustice and police brutality against people of color by kneeling during the national anthem last season. Since opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March, he has garnered little more than a cursory sniff from prospective clubs.

Kraft, McNair, and Jones in particular have been vocal in their stance against any demonstrations during the national anthem.

Other owners and officials are expected to be deposed.
