Report: Panthers to begin extension talks with Rivera

The Carolina Panthers have an owner planning to sell up and an interim general manager, but the front office intends to begin extension talks with head coach Ron Rivera, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Rivera led the Panthers to the Super Bowl in 2015 and has them at 10-4 and in contention this season, but his contract only runs through 2018.
Only tied to playing in Carolina until 2019, the team is looking for some semblance of stability.
However, should Rivera become available, he's expected to draw significant interest, likely from the Chicago Bears, for whom he played for nine years and coached in two different stints.
