Brady attributes recent INT streak to poor decision-making
Tom Brady is likely to win the third MVP award of his career, but the New England Patriots' star quarterback has made some uncharacteristic errors of late.
Brady has thrown six interceptions in his last five games after tossing just two over the first 11 weeks of the campaign. Asked what he could do to correct the trend as the playoffs approach, Brady said Friday he needs to do a better job of deciding when to be aggressive.
"I think it's just making smart decisions," Brady said, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "Whenever they get their hands on it, it's not a good thing for the offense. Putting it in places where only we can touch it or we can catch it is important, especially understanding the situations in the games.
"We've been able to overcome a few of those but, obviously, like at Miami, we didn't overcome them and ball possession is going to be extremely important in this game (against the Jets). We always try to do no turnovers. That's a good goal for us. That's what we should have every week. I can certainly do a better job than I've done protecting it and it's going to be really important."
The Patriots have already locked up a first-round bye, so Brady should have time to rediscover his turnover-free form from earlier in the year before attempting to make it to his eighth Super Bowl.
