Report: Bengals HC Lewis' future may not be decided until Tuesday
Longtime Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis' fate remains uncertain following Monday's annual meeting with team owner Mike Brown, and his future may not be decided until Tuesday, sources told Jim Owczarski of the Enquirer.
The futures of the Bengals' assistant coaches also remain uncertain as a result, although defensive coordinator Paul Guenther is a top candidate to join Jon Gruden in Oakland if the former Raiders coach is hired to replace the recently fired Jack Del Rio, Owczarski reports.
Lewis' 15th season as the team's head coach marked the last on his contract, with reports of his designs on leaving the organization at the conclusion of this year's 7-9 campaign surfacing in December. The longtime head man shot down the rumblings soon thereafter, although he's reportedly since set his sights on either a front-office role or coaching gig with another squad.
He owns a career head coaching record of 125-112-3 with seven postseason losses in as many appearances.
